Week 24 - Corn

Week 24

Your baby’s growing!

Here’s what has changed this week:

  • Your baby’s inner ear has now developed enough that they have a sense of balance
  • Your baby’s skin is getting stronger, but they have not developed enough fat to fill it out yet

Your baby is about 2 inches above your belly button. If you haven’t felt Braxton-Hicks contractions at this point, they may start soon. The contractions are not strong, but you will feel a tightening of the lower abdomen. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If you feel more than four contractions in an hour, contact your Mommy Mentor or a BYB Nurse.

A lot of women start to worry about premature delivery. This is a good time to make sure that you know the signs of early birth so that you can get to the doctor as soon as possible. Here are some of the things you should contact your doctor about:

  • Uterine contractions, if they are regular and very painful.
  • If spotting or bleeding lasts longer than a day or if you are experiencing bleeding with pain, cramping, fever or chills.
  • Watery vaginal discharge, you want to make sure that this is not your water breaking.
  • Yellowish, greenish or strong smelling discharge.
